=520  3\$aEl Giocondo (1970) was one of the first fictions written by Francisco Umbral. The book shows a great and heterogeneous group of characters walking throughout the «noche madrileña» in the late 1960s. Among them, the young lead named Giocondo and two gay couples formed by two clients and two young hustlers stand out. These are the ones playing in the two homoerotic passages. The original novel, whose two most distinctive characteristics are homoerotism and provocation, was published (only) two months after the Social Dangerousness and Rehabilitation Act had been passed.
