=520  3\$aThis article addresses the issue of the cultural dimension of legal text from a translator�s perspective. This dimension generates the following problem: What happens when a given legal system uses to put across its views a language belonging to a culture unrelated to the legal system? To illustrate this situation, the Muslim legal system is examined, which is noticeably different from the substantial Western systems (i.e. the Romano-Germanic and Anglo-Saxon legal systems), and the problems that that legal system causes when translating are addressed as well as possible actions or solutions that the translator must consider.
