=520  3\$aLe roman d'Elena Poniatowska, Leonora (2011), reconstruit la figure de la peintre Leonora Carrington (1917-2011), d'origine anglaise, mais qui vécut la plus longue partie de sa vie au Mexique. En s'appuyant sur ce texte, la présente étude tente d'analyser les relations entre la femme et l'artiste qui, bien qu'elle ait été célébrée comme la dernière des peintres Surréalistes, ne se considéra jamais Surréaliste. On évoque les épisodes cruciaux des vingt premières années de sa vie et de sa formation dans l'ambiance effervescente et tragique autour de la Deuxième Guerre mondiale. Ensuite on analyse trois de ses tableaux, appartenant à des périodes différentes, afin de mettre en relief les caractéristiques les plus notables de sa peinture, en harmonie complète avec sa forte personnalité.
