=520  3\$aCet article vise à décrire la manière dont Juan Luis Vivès comprend le «genre commentaire». Ce travail littéraire résida dans une analyse approfondie de tout le savoir provenant de l'Antiquité. C'est pourquoi le concept de «commentaire» à la Renaissance est synonyme de survivance des idées et des formes d'expression du Monde Gréco-romain. Or, le De ratione dicendi de Vivès nous offre une meilleure compréhension de sa vision au respect. Un exemple très évident d'appréciation vivésienne est le travail éditorial d'Erasme, qui demanda à Vivès d'élaborer les Commentarii in XXII Libros de Civitate Dei. Dans cette œuvre, l'humaniste espagnol démontre qu'il est un grand chercheur, car il est tout à fait à même d'enquêter sur les aspects les plus importants du texte augustinien.
