Eclipsed by Sánchez de Viana's translation (1589), of higher quality and more widespread, Pérez Sigler's version has generally been little studied and valued. It has also been criticized for being directly dependent on the Italian translation of Anguillara. However, we think that the Salamanca-born author did a more than worthy task in his translation, both for his fidelity to the original text and for his poetic merits. The present contribution aims to claim the validity of this Spanish version, as well as that of the Poetic Dictionary that accompanies its second edition (1609). As an example of Pérez Sigler's good work, we look especially at his version of one of the episodes of the Ovidian poem: the fable of Perseus, one of the most widespread and adapted pagan myths in the history of Spanish literature. =538 \\$aapplication/pdf =540 \\$aLICENCIA DE USO: Los documentos a texto completo incluidos en Dialnet son de acceso libre y propiedad de sus autores y/o editores.
