=520  3\$aThis article attempts to show the museum's representation in the narrative of Jose Maria Merino and dialogue established with the main "theories of the museum." The result of this dialogue is a reflection on the impossibility of recreating the past in the museum space. By analyzing three representations of the museum in the narrative of the author written in the 1980.s, this article presents a unique and challenging reading of this space and its participation in the discourse of ignorance and confusion of the character willing to reconstruct his past and identity. It proposes the need for the living memory of the individual visitor that begins to interact with museum objects.
