=520  3\$aThis article includes a selection of idiomatic expressions (idioms, fixed comparisons and sayings) collected in Villacalabuey, in the southeast of León, with the intention of recovering a true speech genre from the past. The lifestyle, thinking and customs of this village in León are reflected in this speech genre, which is of interest in many ways from the philological and sociocultural points of view. We classify the idiomatic expressions in various groups according to formal and semantic aspects, which allows us to highlight their transcultural value as, to a large degree, they transcend the borders, strictly speaking, of León.
