=520  3\$aThis work is based on some considerations about the possibility of understanding the semantic field of femininity as a specific genre of writing, with specific sub-genres related to themes and styles of expression. It takes in reference related studies in Semiotics and Linguistics that allow us to understand the female as a "nebula of meaning", which does not match with codified and canonized expressive styles. The female arises therefore more like a particular interpretation of the texts, a point of view that emerges from the practice of reading.On the basis of these considerations, this paper reviews the main theoretical approaches on women's reading, circumscribing three macro-areas: those of Gender studies, Historical research, and statistical analysis of Sociology related to the book market
