Sus trabajos iniciales sobre Estilística literaria y, posteriormente, sus estudios sobre el Formalismo ruso, lo convirtieron en el introductor de dicha disciplina en nuestro país y, por tanto, de ahí surge el interés que su obra hoy suscita, convertida ya en un clásico de la Filología.
