Starting from a historical perspective it makes a brief journey through the teaching methods of Latin from the Renaissance to the present, focusing especially on the origin of the grammar-translation method in the XVIII century and its reformulation in contact with modern methods from the teaching classroom of foreign language (FL), giving rise to the current concept of pedagogical translation and its application in Latin classes.
