=520  3\$aIn the mid of 19th-century, French Naturalism attempts to transform Literature into Science, creating �the experimental novel�. This is based upon the idea that our actions are determined by social laws. The aim of this article is to examine this determinist view and to highlight the more radical reach of Naturalist fatum, in contrast with the Greek idea of destiny, and the subsequent belief about responsibility, conscience and the sense of human action.
