=520  3\$aIn this article, other studies dealing with humour are examined in order to bring out the difficulty involved in defining this concept and the various perspectives from which it has been considered. The definitions given have been diverse and at times contradictory. However, the point they all share is that humour is closely linked to the personality of the writer, to the extent of being considered a type of Weltanschauung. As the concepts of humour and writer are inseparable, this article is an attempt to use humour in literary studies in substitution of the idea of comedy, in order to stress the conscious process by which a narrator creates comic effect, lays out his narrative, and an author expresses his view point regarding his work and the world.
