Based on the existing documents about the female convents in the Canary Islands, a portrait of the religious life in cloister during the 17th and 18th centuries is made through the monastic parlor, behind whose bars the nuns could free, that is, speak and receive their visitors and relatives. Its form and location, its use and socio-religious function, the social profile of the visits, the role of the devotees, the way of dressing and the persistence of various profanities (treats, dances, music, comedies, romances) are analyzed despite the condemnation of bishops and visitors
