    Poetry is one of the most useful tools for the teacher in the language teach- ing-learning process.This paper presents a didactic proposal directed at the advanced level of Spanish as a foreign language of the Of cial Language Schools, correspond- ing to level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. It is intended to help students develop their reading and literary analysis skills, as well as knowledge of Spanish culture, while be- coming familiar with contemporary poetry. Starting with a poem by Juana Castro, we present a series of activities to deepen lin- guistic and reading comprehension, as well as some initiatives to promote reading. Teachers are provided with a series of basic assessment tools, so that they can evaluate students' progress and their understanding and interpretation of poetic texts.
