During the first third of the 20th century Spain is undergoing a time of great change at the economic, social, cultural and political levels, which unleashes a new age of modernization of the country along with unprecedented cultural and artistic development. The active involvement and participation of women will be a key factor in the general process of the renewal in all areas, since women are acquiring increasing significance in the public sphere after being traditionally relegated to the private realm. As a result, women will become well represented in all artistic fields, especially in the field of poetry, thanks to the contribution of Spanish female poets connected with the Generation of 27, although women poets have not received until recently the critical attention they deserve. After considering the sociopolitical context in which female poets inscribed their work, this paper examines some of their love poems, which range from those alluding to a traditional notion of femininity to those which approach the concept of a 'new woman' that may include an erotic dimension, which was a transgressive factor at the time.
