This paper studies the paratexts of Cervantes' Persiles from a perspective that considers this book as a part of the author's «late style». The awareness of the impending end which characterizes these kinds of texts is analyzed through three topics that can be found in the piece dedicated to the Count of Lemos and the readers' prologue: time, trip and friendship. The projections of these topics on Cervantes' work are also outlined here.
