This essay is a study of a satirical poem by Quevedo. The version used for the study is found in a Spanish Cancionero compiled in Rome, Ms. Corsini 625. The poem, Las cuerdas de mi instrumento (whose estribillo is Punto en boca) was published in a censored format in the first printed books by Quevedo (Flores 1605 and 1648); three stanzas were omitted for being too bold. The Ms. Corsini 625 version of Quevedo's poem retains two of the three censored stanzas along with others not published elsewhere. Moreover this version has lectiones singulares that make it an isolated «Italian» witness to this poem's tradition, a witness hardly known to Quevedo scholars.
