This article examines the narrative works of Gabriel García Márquez and his relationship with the Spanish Golden Age's Literature. This issue has been studied by critics and here some specific cases such as the relationship of One Hundred Years of Solitude with Cervantes' Don Quixote, The Autumn of the Patriarch with the chroniclers, the short story «Candida Eréndira» with the exemplary novel analyzes The Little Gypsy Girl. Finally, a comment about lexical archaisms Garcia Marquez and his origin is Golden Age
