Traditionally, love has been a feeling that had distorted social rules and behavior. In the years between the 18th and 19th Centuries, the Enlightenment gave way to pre-Romanticism, a cultural movement that exalted happiness and free will of individuals, incidentally opening a window of freedom for women to choose their better half. In this changing context, some cases of alleged women´s demonic possession masked in reality nervous breakdowns and love depressions.
