Especially the  corregidor in state service will be examined. According to Jerónimo Castillo, his  tasks consisted of governing a region and exercising jurisprudence at the same  time. Although as a governor he was responsible for peace and order, as a judge  he had to serve justice. As stated by Bermúdez de Pedraza, jurisprudence can be  classified as a science because it meets all the required criteria. The corregidors  became dominant in the national image just like a body in which they are assigned  to the head
