The trial (1674-1681) of several nuns from the convent of Santa Clara in Trujillo (Peru) is reflected in a document of great linguistic, literary and anthropological richness, with relevant and significant marks of orality. Two young nuns, Luisa Benítez, nicknamed the Pacora, and her close friend, Ana Núñez, were prosecuted by the Inquisition for dealing with the devil, superstition and blasphemy, among other crimes. In this paper I analyse some signs of orality, and some of the songs (the son of «Guárdame las vacas», for example), and of the parodic prayers (an Our Father, a Hail Mary, a Rosary and a Gloriapatri) that circulated around them and were recorded in the inquisitorial documentation.
