This article aims to pose a possible roadmap in order to read Tea rooms: mujeres obreras (1932) from a class and gender-based perspective. The third novel by Luisa Carnés is analyzed from a critical methodology that highlights its narrative potential; that is: the will to intervene, from literature, in the social and cultural imaginaries around the new woman. In order to do so, this work distinguishes four ideas-forces inside the novel which bring cohesion and complexity to the analysis: the tea room space and the narrative plot, the main's character fictional development and its importance in the construction of an alternative political imagination, the novel-report's specific form and the political sense given by the hopeful ending for the working class.
