Libro de poemas is the collection of poems by Federico García Lorca which brings closure to his youth. In the book we find assorted mythological references such as the mention of a divinity or the story of a myth. The-se allusions are taken from his youthful readings and his education. The author from Granada will use Greco-Roman mythology to express his feelings or to identify himself with some classical figures. He also uses other aspects in his poems, such as the elements of nature, children's songs and fictional characters. The present work, unlike the other stu-dies that have been done on this subject, consists of a context that ex-plains the myth to which the author refers and helps in the understan-ding of the poems. Through an individual approach to the poems, a more complete analysis will be made, which tries to establish the mea-ning of the classical allusions. Thus, the main objective is to show how mythology works in Libro de poemas.
