This article analyzes Lumpérica, the first novel by the Chilean writer Diamela Eltit, as a complex textual form that offers narrative experimentation strategies linked to the neo-baroque. For this, we focus on metafiction as an unfolding of writing. We consider that through metafiction the novel explores the symbolic dimension of the body and the limits of literary representation. In this way, projects aesthetic and political questions regarding the place of writing in a space dominated by violence and censorship.
