Our main goal is to unveil this web of meanings as regards the conceptualization of the roles of love and seduction in literary discourse. This paper aims at providing a set of thought-provoking  examples  rather  than  an  elaborate  synthesis. Therefore,  it  will  focus  on the  interpretation  of  literature  both  as  a discourse of seduction and as a seductive discourse. For this purpose, the works of Garcilaso, Becquer and Cervantes, three of the most significant landmarks in the treatment of love in Spanish literature, are analysed.
