                            [a] => The Image of the Power of the Abencerrages, as reflected in the Nasrid Sources The present paper deals with the myth of the power of the Abencerrages by analysing 15th-century historical sources concerned with the Nasrid kingdom of Granada. It examines the political power of the Banu l-Sarray family by comparing historical information with the mythical image created by later literature and historiography. The notion of an Abencerrage lineage articulates the analysis in order to discuss the historiographical tradition that attributes collective consciousness and similar features to any individual named Abencerrage (Ibn al-Sarray). By analysing the concepts of Abencerrage lineage and family, the existence of Abencerrage individuals without any political influence is demonstrated, which does away with the Abencerrages� mythical image.
