The article studies how it is possible that the autobiographical writing can acquire a cognitive value in some contexts, for example in the First World War literature. The article analyzes the cases of some writers-witnesses as Erich M. Remarque, Henri Barbusse, Robert Graves, Ernest Glaeser...- and tries to explain how the personal experience can serve of instrument against the oblivion and the historical deformation of the social memory.
