El blocao (1928) was the first José Diaz Fernández's novel. It meant a unique editorial success until then because it included three original characteristics: a critical attitude face with Morocco's war; an incorporation of the avant-garde innovations that its author named (called) "advanced literature"; and a positioning (placing) of intellectual close to popular demands. However, although he published another novel one year later (La Venus mecánica), a theoretical book in which he defined the literature that he proposed and practiced (El nuevo romanticismo) and also some other short stories, Díaz Fernández underwent a kind of creative narrative blockage and left the narrative literature of which he had left very high expectations. Our work tries to analyze the possible causes of this writer's creative jamming in narrative.
