The present paper analyses manners in which the image of gay men is being discursively and textually established in three novels: Diles que me quieres by Ángel Hernández, Te esperaré by Tomás Ortiz and El viaje de Marcos by Óscar Hernández. The chosen novels can be considered gay popular fiction and they have been chosen for the purpose of the investigation since popular narrative patterns, according to popular culture theories, shape the image of transitional identities more adequately than any others. In order to achieve the analytical goal, the relationship between the narrator and the characters (LGBTQ community members) has been determined, as well as comparison with similar Polish literary works has been made. Finally, sociocritical theory served as means of revealing the social, political and cultural implications of the immersion of popular gay narrative in the heteronormative culture.
