Among the hagiographical legends, the life of Saint Antolín has a special place. Qualified by sources of this gender as fantastic prose and fictitious life, ignored by Iacopo da Varazze in his Legenda aurea, this narration had a wide circulation among the Spanish medieval manuscripts about the life of saints, consisting of the so called Compilation A and Compilation B. This popularity continued until the beginning of the printing revolution and we can find a longer and more detailed version of the legend in one of the first incunabulum of the Iberian Peninsula: Flos sanctorum con sus ethimologías.
