A minimal proverb is a paremiological unit with full meaning, formulated with an explicit or elided verb, and stated with the minimum number of components. The aim of this article is to offer a first corpus of minimal proverbs in Asturian, obtained from the following books of popular sayings: Castañón (1962), expanded with two appendices (1963 and 1965), Martino (2008), Viejo (2012) and Sánchez and Cañedo (2012). In this corpus of 38 minimal Asturian proverbs, we analyze the four paroemias composed of two single elements, and examine some recurrent structures in the 34 minimal proverbs comprising three elements.
