Together with the emergence of the recovery movement of historical memoryin the Spanish state at the beginning of the 21st century, the novel that recreates the period ofthe Civil War and Francisco Franco's regime has experienced a boom that has led to thefixation of certain recurring tropes such as ghostly apparitions. This paper is based on theclassical theory about the spectres of Derrida and other works that have studied thisphenomenon in the literature to propose an analysis of the role and meaning of the ghost inthe novel Non hai noite tan longa (2011) by the Galician writer Agustín Fernández Paz,showing both the influence of the Shakespeare's Hamlet and its relationship with the need toface a traumatic past that demands justice
