    This essay makes a comparison between two female authors, geographically and historically distant: Spanish Santa Teresa de Jesús (16th Century) and Cuban Dulce María Loynaz (20th Century). Both wrote about a traditional literary theme, «death as life», using a dual approach: the sacred and the profane (secular).
