In recent years -and in reaction to the rise of superhero films- a series of films have appeared that parody this genre in a similar way to how Don Quixote parodies novels of chivalry. In this essay I analyze the quixotic features of these flesh-and-blood superheroes, such as their deformed view of reality derived from an excess of fiction, their carnival costume, made by themselves, or their determination to combat evil, usually with catastrophic results and obtaining a media repercussion far removed from the one that they pretend, being considered fools or criminals, instead of great heroes
