The author presents a teaching experience with his students of ancient Greek. Starting from the Byzantine icon of the "Dormition of the Virgin", the script deals with ancient Greek texts, the recreation of the sets and the costumes of the characters. It is a very motivating complementary activity that allows us, as well, to get direct knowledge of a historical period less studied in our subjects. Byzantine Greece is the essential bridge between Ancient Greece and Greece nowadays, between Classical Greek and Modern Greek.
