This paper examines the meta-theoretical conceptualization madearound the violence of The Time of the Hero(1963), as when referring to its explicit andimplicit forms, its development in family andsexual spheres, its articulation from racism, its criticism through social, sociopolitical, and military denunciation. It also analyzesidentification as an element of barbarismthat is in dispute with the civilizing process.Simultaneously, a hermeneutical work hasbeen incorporated based on the inclusionof the proposals elaborated by literary criticism. These have been extracted, confronted, schematized and taken into discussion. In this sense, Hans-Georg Gadamer's approachin his book Truth and Method (1960)is validated by the critical function of aninterpreter when this person corroboratesa set of ideas regarding an object of study. The purpose of this work is to systematizethe variants of the violence, supported bythe registered literary research. Therefore,a theoretical and hermeneutical panoramais erected based on the novel of Mario VargasLlosa.
