. In the year 2020 I was able to record in the village of Herrera del Duque (Badajoz) a version of the folktale of Mariquita triqui traca. In this article I analyze that version and other versions from Extremadura and the Hispanic world. I review the numbers that have been assigned to this type of tale, and others like it, in the catalogues of national and international tales. I analyze its relation with the argument of the oral romance of The Miller's Wife and the Priest. And I make some reflections about the anticlericalism that can be detected in an important part, of the oral and popular culture, and that can be interpreted as a manifestation of old biopolitical conflicts between the dominant classes and the dominated classes
