Leontius makes a redaction which in many places is eminently rhetoric, but there are phonetic, morphologic, syntactic and lexical elements which are typical of the Byzantine Greek language. Symeon is then a personage capable -as the author- to make rhetoric speeches and to discuss philosophic subjects, and he also is able to let down his language to the popular and quotidian level of the public, in order to present different situations of dialog. In the literary composition it always emerges the language of the historic time.
