This paper aims to show a comparison between two of the greatest discriminations that occurred in the hierarchical Spanish society of the Ancien Régime. Through the case of the III duchess of Béjar, doña Teresa de Zúñiga, we can see how, on the one hand, her dominant position as a lady holder of her estates and, on the other, how she was also subject to her condition as a woman in a world of mostly male protagonism. The observation of the intersection between these two forms of discrimination, the statal and the sexual, allows us to get a little closer to the way of thinking, feeling and acting in the complex mechanism of the manorial regime
