Josefina de la Torre (1907-2002) was a multifaceted artist who wrote novels and short stories, was as a lyric singer, theater, cinema, radio and television actress, a doubler and a reporter. She also adapted scripts and she even ran a boutique. But, above all, she was a poet. Although she only published four poetry books in her life, the edition of her Poesía completa proves that she never stopped writing since she composed her first poem at the age of seven. With this paper we try to present and analyze the configuration of Josefina de la Torre's poetic voice through her first books (Poesías ingenuas, 1918; Versos y estampas, 1927 and Poemas de la isla, 1930), where she combines elements and structures from the traditional Spanish Literature with vanguardist images and topics. We will also point out some biographical facts that influenced the elaboration of these poems, shedding more light on the life of the poet from the Canary Islands, which still has many shadows.
