Thisacademic articleproposesaninterpretationoftheshortstories"Eldesayuno"byPilarDughi and "Desde el exilio"by Mariella Sala. The main hypothesis holds that, in theselected texts, the house is a symbolic matrix that reveals the normative codes of genderroles.Fromthisperspective, weanalyzethemodesofrepresentationandnarrativeprocedures used by the authors to create a rupture with the conventional meanings of thedomestic space. Thus, it is argued that both stories introduce a critical questioning in therepresentation of the home and everyday life and, in this way, evidence the powerrelations that are reproduced in the private sphere.
