The author investigates the tragic character of the Hispanic Baroque from the point of view of the tragic limit. The central sources are Baltasar Gracián and Miguel de Cervantes. In the extreme fulfillment of the tragic becoming, in its tendential limit, there is no tension between immanence and transcendence, finitude and infinity, facticity and ideality, as opposite and necessary poles, but the intricacy between the two appears. The transmundane ideal is a necessary impossibility inherent in the world, in the finite, in facticity, in the aporetic form of its generating subtraction, which impels to convert the world into that which is worthy of being eternalized. The tragic limit is the peculiar place of a non-place. It is the place where the eternal impossible shines at the fatal moment in which the world and life lose their meaning. The tragic hero wins in his own collapse
