. In recent decades, studies on images have gained renewed interest. From different perspectives and diverse schools, a new reflection on visual objects has been carried out. Towards the end of the 20th century, images have become a privileged object of study by virtue of their massive circulation through electronic devices, their political and military use, as a didactic resource for science, and as an object of legislation, among other reasons, opening the way to countless works that have been dedicated to revisiting the issue. Already in Modernity, two extremely polarized paradigms emerged with respect to visual culture, the scientific one -which has hegemonized the Western mentality- and the baroque. One realistic and referential, the other visionary and symbolic. This work focuses on a rereading and updating of the latter.
