In this paper it is carried out a diacronic analysis about the ideas of the Philosopher and philosophical activities developed from Ancient Greece up to nowadays. Through this way it can be observed a long evolution from an idea in which philosophy involves a knowledge linked to a specific way of living to another idea in which philosophy is an specialised knowledge tantamount to the several kinds of the sciences. There are two views of -the idea of the philosopher; one that keeping its identity from its helenic origins to nowadays and a more "historicist" in which the philosopher defines himself and his activity in a different ways according the historical circumstances.
