The culminating scene of Manuel Tamayo y Baus's Un drama nuevo has been interpreted as a merger of life and theatre, provided that three actors (Yorick, Alicia and Edmundo) get confused with three prominent figures (Count Octavio, Beatriz, Manfredo). The article examines of that way comes near up to this situation, the need that exists for it of which Yorick leaves his facet of comical actor and the reasons that Edmundo and Alicia has to help in scene the change of theatre to life that Yorick imposes. For these aspects he becomes the parallel one between Un drama nuevo, the opera I Pagliacci and the Alfred Hitchcok's movie 39 steps.
