The main purpose of this paper will be the analysis of the boxing characters in Esta noche, gran velada (1983) by Fermín Cabal and Urtain (2008) by Juan Cavestany and performed by the Animalario theatre company. Although with a difference of almost twenty years between these two plays, the time period recreated corresponds to the late Franco years. We shall particularly focus on the relationship which both boxers maintain with the female characters. Finally, we shall analyse the treatment bestowed on the concept of death in both plays.
