                            [a] => This paper revisits a study, carried out in 1961 by J.L. Pensado concerning the Latin word *Aquavergium. The author focuses particularly on the Asturian region. As a result of the publication of abundant documentation from the Cathedral of León�s archives, it can now be shown that this Vulgar Latin formula was also used in the León area, especially in the northern part of the province of León. It was used not only to name settlement situated on hydrographic watersheds (under the term Uvierzo), but also as an appellative (aguavierzo, irrigation dam)
