The author of this paper develops and comments, quoting the original texts, the narration of the legend on the voyage of Saint Brendan and Saint Maclow, two fifth-century sailor monks, in the Atlantic Ocean and their arrival at the «Fortunatae Insulae», identified as the Canary Islands, as it appears in a 17th-century work written in Latin on the trip carried out by the first Vicar-general of America -named by pope Alexander VI- who accompanied Christopher Columbus in the year 1493.
