This aspect of the crime fiction genre, which intends to recreate some of the most relevant events that took place in a country, owes quite a bit to American crime fiction and to hard-boiled fiction as well. Certain Twenty-First Century Spanish authors have decided to go back to the past and to use it as the frame for the plot of some of their novels. Luis García Jambrina, Alejandro Gallo and Mariano Sánchez Soler are some examples of this. The following article will show how the characteristics of American crime fiction are present in three novels by these three authors. Their novels have already won the favour of the readers and critics.
