Owls have been considered, in every single epoch and every single place, the most mysterious and enigmatic of all the birds of prey that live by night. Their quiet flight, their penetrating glance, their dismal caw have made of them both alluring and disquieting animals. A look at the history of the relations of man with this bird shows that owls are present in all the different fields of literature, myth and even religion. This work intends to study a part of this history.
